We are committed to minimising our environmental impact and encourage staff to consider this is all aspects of our work.
Renewable Energy
We purchase our electricity from green suppliers, who source their electricity from renewable generators.
We have also invested £20,000 in the Westmill Wind Farm Cooperative, which is building a wind farm near Swindon and £5,000 in Torrs Hydro New Mills Limited, which is building a small hydro-electric project in the High Peak of Derbyshire.
Cutting Car Journeys
We encourage the use of public transport for business journeys, provide bicycles free of charge to staff, and give a mileage payment for cycling and walking on business journeys.
Last year 78.1% of business journeys and 86.1% of business miles were made by rail, bus, cycling or walking.

Carbon Offsetting
We offset all the Carbon Dioxide generated by our activities, and (uniquely) those of our main suppliers too.
We recognise that the purchase of CO2 offsets is a complex topic - this is our position in more detail.
Recycling
We purchase almost all of our paper and envelopes from Paperback Ltd, a worker co-op which specialises in recycled paper products.
We recycle our own paper office waste and consumables like printer cartridges, and aim to cut the amount of paper we use.
Improving Energy Efficiency
In June 2007 we launched a ring-fenced Sustainability Fund to help finance further improvements, particularly to make our new premises more energy efficient.
