"We're very pleased with the service provided by The Phone Co-op as it is often hard to get a sensible
technical answer from the help desks of major ISPs where one may find the only response is from an answer
machine." Patrick Mahon, Head of IT.
Amnesty first became users of Poptel (taken over by The Phone Co-op in July 2003) back in 1987,
long before most people had heard of email and before the invention of the world wide web.
The very first eyewitness reports of human rights abuses in Tiananmen Square were transmitted through
Poptel's network. More recently, we were chosen to supply the internet bandwidth for their new premises
- The Human Rights Action Centre in East London (pictured above).
Amnesty opted for an SDSL service which offers the same high speeds for upload and download, as well
as providing internet access and email. SDSL is ideal for secure connection between the Action Centre
and Amnesty's regional offices (which The Phone Co-op supplies with ADSL Broadband) in Cardiff, Belfast
and Edinburgh.
